Further Information
Frontline has made significant advances in recent years, particularly in the development of new regions and bringing more people into the profession. We are now looking for a Professional Conduct Chair who can chair our participant suitability panels that take place as part of our admissions and screening processes and can also be required during the programme. Chairing of other panels such as Fitness to Practice and Practice Learning Education Reviews is also required. It is expected that the person appointed would also support the team with complex occupational health decisions, consultant social worker conduct issues and offer training and advice to the wider team on the processes that need to be followed This vital role requires a qualified social work professional, who has significant experience of chairing complex meetings at senior level with a range of partners and professionals. We need a skilled individual to bring their practice expertise to this crucial role, to make decisions about participant suitability in line with regulatory guidance and input from our partner local authorities.

You will be responsible for advising on suitability and occupational health matters relating to participants both joining and during the programme. You will chair suitability panels as required and be responsible for conveying the panel decision to the participant. You will support the panel to make informed decisions based on the evidence presented and lead the panel through the process of making the decision. You will also chair our Fitness to Practice panels and on occasion our Practice Learning Education Reviews. We are looking for a skilled leader who is knowledgeable and interested in social work regulations and standards and can use this knowledge to ensure the participants joining our programme are eligible to do so from a suitability lens, whilst supporting the teams with advice and training as required.

The Professional Conduct Chair will work alongside our two skilled selection advisors who prepare the participant reports for the suitability panels and the suitability panel coordinator who manages the logistics of the panel and ensures that we have local authority partner representatives present. In addition, there will be contact with the regional teams, specifically the 6 heads of region for whom the person appointed would be a point of contact for advice and support around participant and consultant social worker conduct. The heads of region attend the suitability panels for their respective regions.

The team’s focus is to ensure that we have right people on our programme and that they are able to meet the regulatory requirements for entry onto our two year Masters social work training programme. The programmes we run directly benefit over 600 social workers and managers annually, so this role represents an opportunity to ensure and influence safe social work practice and leadership in England. At times they may also be asked for advice by our recruitment team.
