Northumberland Archives’ role is to collect, preserve and make available records relating to the history of our county. We operate from two service points – Woodhorn in south-east Northumberland and Berwick-upon- Tweed in the north. A team of twenty two work across the two service points. We are an Accredited Archive Service and an Approved Place of Deposit. We offer a full range of public services operating two public search rooms and participating in education and outreach activities across the county. In 2017 our service moved back into Northumberland County Council management and we form part of the authority’s Information Services.

Northumberland Archives is seeking to recruit a part-time Archives Assistant to join our front of house team at Woodhorn, Northumberland. This is a customer focussed role that involves producing and returning documents from our strongrooms, welcoming searchroom users and providing advice to users regarding family and local history research, answering emails and telephone calls and providing support for collections management work. The post is based at Woodhorn but the postholder may be occasionally expected to work offsite.
