Further Information
As part of Sunderland Council’s City Plan, major milestones have already been achieved including the opening of our new landmark, Northern Spire bridge, and the development of the first phase of the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP). The City Plan will take us up to 2030 and sets the framework for the City’s ongoing regeneration and help ensure we serve our communities to the highest standards possible.

We recently appointed two senior roles in leading and managing the implementation of the Council’s strategic residential and commercial property development programmes and delivering the City’s priority development and investment projects.

Strategic developments will see the delivery of approximately 1 million square feet of modern commercial office space, 5,500 high-quality new homes, significant leisure development, and city-wide infrastructure enhancement.
Projects include Riverside Sunderland which will help to double the City Centre population from 2,500 to 5,000 and increase the number of people employed in the City Centre by 50% from 12,000 to 18,000, stimulating investment, creating a new way of City Centre living, and maximising the wider economic and regeneration benefits for the City.

An opportunity has now arisen for two development management positions to support the on-going work and vision.

Applicants will need the following:

Extensive experience of development management of multiple capital projects varying in value, scale, use and complexity from concept through to operational handover.

Ability to deliver projects with a commercial or residential focus with experience within complex stakeholder environments encompassing a range of other sectors (retail, leisure, health, industrial, energy, ports and marine) including conversions, refurbishment and new build in the public and private sectors to ensure successful partnership working.

A strong, visible management style; the ability to build effective relationships and work across the public and private sectors, with vision, drive, and attention to detail.

To manage all of the resources associated with the delivery of residential or commercial projects, within a performance management framework.

Please note you will be required to complete an on-line personality assessment as part of the process.

Interviews will be held on 14th January 2020
