We currently have a vacancy for a Practice Supervisor (Assistant Team Manager) in the Integrated Referral Team (Front Door duty). The role is varied and comprises of tasks including; leading and supervising the duty social workers, acting as duty manager for day to day decision making, performance management of the duty room functions, manager oversight of threshold decisions regarding contacts and referrals, attending multi agency meetings including daily triage with the mash police, quality assuring documents including child in need assessments and overseeing the referral systems and processes to ensure that these are robust and up to date with current legislation and statutory guidance. The team responds to immediate safeguarding concerns including joint visits with police which will require the post holder to conduct immediate strategy discussions when required. This work is fast paced and can be unpredictable requiring some late, out of hours work. We work very closely with our partner agencies which include some co-located partners and other virtual arrangements for effective information sharing and this was acknowledged by OFSTED in the recent inspection.

To apply for the post you will need a Social Work qualification and Post Qualifying training, be registered with HCPC, have enhanced DBS clearance, and hold a current driving licence and access to a car, or means to mobility support.

Applications are invited from candidates who have comprehensive experience of practising Child Care Social Work within a statutory setting and within statutory and legislative frameworks including Child Protection processes and looked after children. You will have a proven record of delivering interventions and achieving change with complex and challenging families and will have experience of undertaking complex assessments of family dynamics and systems. You will have experience of analysing and evaluating risk and formulating plans designed to reduce risk factors and affect change for children. You will also have experience of supervising Social Workers or students and managing performance and addressing deficits.

The successful applicant will have detailed knowledge of: Child care legislation and statutory guidance, child development throughout the age range, child protection and multiagency responsibilities, Psycho Socio and economic factors impacting on children and families, assessment and social work interventions, including systems theory and models of reflective practice and supervisory techniques.

Your skills will include the ability to; provide reflective supervision, think systemically, effectively challenge and influence Social Workers, improve the practice of others, develop strategies to improve the throughput of work, shape and influence a culture of productivity and learning, hypothesise and guide Social Workers in seeking evidence based conclusions and present complex information in written and oral form.

We require someone who is highly empathic, enabling, reflective , respectful and emotionally intelligent, has a strong ethical and moral compass which recognises power imbalance, diversity and discrimination. You will have passion and energy in delivering services to children and families, be resilient and able to work autonomously under pressure, be a completer finisher. You will be open to learning from experience, decisive whilst recognising professional lines of governance and accountability and be able to recognise personal experiences that influence professional perceptions. You will also need to be comfortable in applying authority implicit to the role which develops respectful relationships and protects children and hold a positive, creative and solution focussed approach. You will also be confident in the use of IT.
