The Council's Care Call service is a 24-hour, 365-day emergency response service to residents within the borough. Clients are linked through various technologies to the control centre which is based in the Civic Centre, Gateshead. The service is also the main point of contact for Council services out of hours.

Duties will include taking and making calls to clients giving appropriate support and advice. You will also provide a mobile response by visiting clients within the community; contacting emergency services and liaising with social care staff, relatives and other agencies.

You will have experience of working in the social care or housing field working with members of the public; have a flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate good communication skills as well as a having a caring attitude. You must also be genuinely interested in the wellbeing of the elderly/disabled.

You must possess a full driving licence or have means to mobility support and hold an NVQ level 2 in customer services, social care or housing support. You will also hold 5 GCSE's at minimum grade 4 (Grade C) or equivalent.
It is desirable that you have some IT skills.

You must be available to work a variety of shifts which will include night time, weekend and bank holiday working. The salary quoted is pro rata to the hours worked and additional payments are applicable for weekend working and shift allowance where applicable.
