Further Information
The Gateshead Housing Company is a non-profit organisation responsible for the day to day management of almost 20,000 homes on behalf of Gateshead Council and currently employs over 800 people. We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality of service and we believe that the key to achieving this is to recruit enthusiastic, talented people with the right skills, knowledge, attitude and behaviour.

The Armed Forces Outreach Workers play a key role in delivering a comprehensive, customer focused and responsive provision within the Armed Forces Outreach Service. This includes working with those leaving the forces, veterans, serving reservists and their families providing initial advice and signposting around housing, welfare benefits, employment, health and any other matters that may arise.

About you
The successful candidate will have knowledge of current issues facing veterans and the Armed Forces Community as well as knowledge of the re-settlement process, along with networking and effective communication skills as you will be working closely with partners and external agencies. It is vital that you can demonstrate that you have excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to empathise and help others and can demonstrate competence to work on your own initiative.

Although you will be based at Gateshead Civic Centre you will be required to visit other sites, therefore it is important that you have access to mobility transport or hold a full driving licence. If you do hold a full driving licence it would be beneficial although not essential that you have access to your own vehicle.

You should possess 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A- C) including Maths and English or relevant demonstrable experience.

For an informal discussion about the role please email Mick Downworth, Armed Forces Coordinator, or call 0191 433 2612.
