Further Information
Pause works with women who have experienced, or are at risk of, repeated pregnancies that result in children needing to be removed from their care.

The programme gives women the chance to pause and take control over their lives, breaking a destructive cycle that causes both them and their children deep trauma, as well as reducing huge costs to society and the taxpayer.

As a Pause Next Steps Practitioner, you will be responsible for supporting women who have completed the Pause Programme in Sunderland to increase their independence, to sustain positive life changes and reinforce positive self-narratives. As women come to the end of the Pause programme, the transition from high levels of focused support to less intense support can be a challenge, but also offers an opportunity. This means it is crucial that every woman has access to the best possible transition to adequately support and sustain her on to and during the next phase of her journey from dependence to independence.

At Barnardo's we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Our safer recruitment processes mean that the safety and welfare of the child is paramount at every stage of the process and therefore, we adopt rigorous scrutiny in our pre-employment checking. This post is subject to a range of pre-employment checks including a Criminal Records Enhanced Disclosure for the successful candidate.

Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to 1 July 2021 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.

This contract is due to expire on 1 July 2021

When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.
