Barndale House School is a happy, friendly residential special school in Alnwick for children and young people aged 2-19 years of age with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Our residential provision was inspected by Ofsted in October 2019 and we are proud that it was graded ‘Good’ in all areas.

We are searching for a caring and self-motivated Waking Night Attendant to support the Headteacher, existing Head of Care and small team of residential key workers to provide overnight care and supervision for the pupils who access our 24 hour curriculum. All of our pupils have special educational needs and disabilities.

You will be responsible for supervising the residential provision overnight and the majority of your shifts will be spent working alone. General duties will include conducting regular pupil checks throughout the night and supporting pupils’ evening and morning routines, such as getting them up and ready for school.

You should be capable of maintaining a high quality approach to the delivery of care and supervision of children with special educational needs and disabilities. Previous experience in a similar education or social care setting and an NVQ level 3 qualification relating to children, young people / social care are an essential requirement for this role. The post is also subject to an enhanced criminal records / DBS check which will be carried out prior to the start of employment.
