Durham County Council now have an opening for an enthusiastic individual who has a good understanding of Residential work with children to join the Local Authority’s Residential Services as a Homes Manager, managing one of our children’s homes. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to lead a team of staff to provide high quality care for children and young people and help them to achieve their potential.
The successful candidate will be a good leader who can make and maintain professional relationships with both children and adults. They will make sure that young people are at the centre of everything that happens in the home. We are looking for a person who can work collaboratively with others to ensure that young people receive the best possible service.
This post is predominantly office hours but the candidate will need to be able to work flexibly when required to help manage the busy logistics of a children’s home.
Duties will include the supervision, support and performance management of the staff team which will be upward of nine people. The Homes Manager will lead on the ongoing development of the home using feedback from young people and their families and other agencies and of monitoring all aspects of the home as required by the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015. The postholder will ensure that legislation is met in all areas which includes their own Registration as Homes Manager with Ofsted.
Required qualifications: Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent and Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent, or have significant experience in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role and commit to attaining the Level 5 Diploma within 1 year of commencing in post.
