Further Information
The Service:
Providing strategic procurement for Northumberland County Council and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; the Shared Procurement Service is a ground-breaking collaboration between the local authority and the Trust. It’s aim is to provide a sustainable and cost-effective procurement service which helps drive economic benefits and service quality for all stakeholder organisations.

The Role:
Due to continued success and a sustained period of growth, we are recruiting for the following position within the Corporate, FM & Environment contracting team:

Procurement Specialist (£32,910 - £36,922)

The team is a well-established team which has positive relationships across both the NHS and Council. We operate in an agile environment meaning that the successful applicant can be flexible in their work location. The central procurement office sits in County Hall, Morpeth but there are a range of other working sites available across Northumberland and North Tyneside and a mix of office and home-working is also offered. The team has a commitment to work-life balance and Senior Managers who understand the importance of flexibility.

The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of a defined number of procurement projects across the two stakeholder organisations.
As the role crosses both local authority and NHS, expertise in Local Authority and/or NHS procurement is desirable but not essential. We have an excellent record of developing our staff with varied experience and therefore applicants from other sectors are also welcomed.

Further details can be found in the attached job description.

One thing that the successful applicants will have in common is the ability to draw on a well-developed set of procurement skills and commercial business acumen, working with a range of different stakeholders to provide an excellent service. We are keen to promote staff progression and to recognise achievement and the Council offers a range of recognition programmes accordingly.

Those joining the Shared Procurement Service will have a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to shape the direction of this new service. The successful applicant will be proactive and enjoy being challenged by new areas and activities; demonstrating a high level of attention to detail, they will also possess excellent communication and team working skills.

This post is currently available as home working, and opportunities for flexible and agile working may exist moving forward.

Key Benefits:
- A competitive salary (see above for details)
- Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
- A wide range of staff benefits including a competitive annual leave provision, salary sacrifice schemes including holidays, lease cars, cycle to work and childcare vouchers.
- Flexible working arrangements including a generous flexi-scheme
