At the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, we don’t believe in mediocre - we push boundaries, raise the bar and stretch outside of our comfort zone so we can deliver the best outcome and highest level of impact for our region.

We work to deliver more and better jobs for everyone. You can find out more about our work at www.northeastlep.co.uk or follow @northeastlep.

Energy is an Area of Strategic Importance for the continued growth of our regional economy, and our Energy for Growth Programme seeks to deliver on this. Our vision is to deliver on national energy policy while driving growth in the North East, with a key workstream around facilitating delivery of Regional Energy projects at scale.

The North East is home to an exciting regional energy project pipeline, with over £300m of currently identified projects poised to deliver a significant contribution to national energy and decarbonisation goals, while bringing opportunities for regional economic growth.

This pipeline includes a wide variety of interventions across heat, power, transport and systems, such as district energy and heat networks, decarbonisation of public buildings, renewable energy, zero emission transport, mine energy, and domestic retrofit.

These exciting new roles will form a new regional ‘Energy Accelerator Programme’, and part of our Energy for Growth programme. They will help accelerate this pipeline of regional projects to delivery, ensuring national, regional and local funding opportunities, and the potential social, economic and environmental impacts, are realised.

We are seeking two experienced individuals to lead the programme and support partners, particularly local and combined authorities, to develop investment-ready business cases which secure funding and progress delivery of energy projects.

The successful candidates will have strong technical, commercial, and organisational skills, and the ability to manage the process of bringing multiple projects from concept to delivery. This includes assisting partners with prioritising projects to develop, identifying relevant funding routes, carrying out technical and commercial development work to finalise business cases, and supporting partners with bid or investment approval processes.

The successful candidates will work very closely with regional local and combined authorities, meeting regularly, providing support to develop their projects, and updating on progress, so will also have excellent communication, relationship, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage stakeholders, contractors and other partners across multiple projects.

If you are interested in this opportunity, we would love to hear from you. To arrange an informal discussion please email Andrew Clark on Andrew.Clark@nelep.co.uk
