Required for September 2021

Due to the retirement of the present post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen to work within Park View School in their purpose-built Centre in Jarrow. The Centre has been open since September 2019. The Centre caters for students from South Tyneside and other local authorities who have been identified by their parent schools as vocational learners and could also have identified with special educational needs (SEN).

The Centre offers Welding Skills, Engineering, Health and Safety Training, Vehicle Mechanics and Construction skills. It is a City & Guilds approved Centre and all qualifications are C & G.

You will lead an academic programme(s) taking responsibility for the experience of all learners enrolled. Ensuring the curriculum is aligned to awarding body requirements and that teaching, learning and assessment strategies used promote a high-quality learning experience and facilitate learner progress leading to high levels of retention, achievement and progression.

You will liaise with local businesses/enterprises and post-16 providers to ensure the skills being taught are relevant to the local labour demand and promote positive pathways into further training and employment.

For an informal discussion about this post please contact Billy Bell, Head of Centre, Park View School Vocational Centre on 0749 512 7255 or wbell@parkview-school.co.uk

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
