North Tyneside Council is seeking to recruit an experienced Operations Manager for its School Catering Service. The role will also have some responsibility for facilities services in the main Council offices on Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside.

Applicants must have over five years’ experience in senior area / regional management. You will be responsible for the overall financial performance of your area. Providing excellent customer service is critical to the success of this role, and you will have a proven track record of achieving high standards of customer satisfaction and service excellence.

You will have a comprehensive knowledge of school catering and fully understand not only the needs of Headteachers and governing bodies, students and parents when it comes to school food but you will also have an in-depth knowledge of the legislative requirements in relation to school catering.

With over 500 staff in the service, you must have great people and relationship building skills and excel in delivering outstanding service. In addition, you will have the business acumen to focus on strategies to move the service forward and keep ahead of the competition in this market. To achieve this, you will have the support of an area team.

You will be expected to play a major role in seeking and achieving growth across the business.

The post is fixed term for 12 months, full time 37 hours per week with 30 days annual leave. The post offers a flexi-time scheme with hours worked linked to business needs and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
