This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

Redcar and Cleveland is an area of great contrasts with world class industries, market towns, visitor destinations, beautiful coastline and stunning countryside. The Council continues to invest in the area to create opportunities for investment and growth. Key to this work is the Growth and Enterprise Service which leads on our efforts to build upon successful investment and develop an exciting growth programme that will bring long-term improvements to the local economy, create jobs and build vibrant communities.

The Council is seeking to recruit a Planning Strategy or Senior Planning Strategy Officer to support the delivery of its Planning Strategy Service. The successful candidate will form part of a team with responsibility for the preparation, monitoring and implementation of a Local Plan for Redcar and Cleveland and will join the team in time to support us in conducting a review of the Redcar & Cleveland Local Plan which was adopted in 2018.

Working under the direction of the Planning Strategy Manager, you will be required to support the delivery of the planned growth within the borough. You will be involved in monitoring the implementation of the Local Plan and will contribute to the maintenance of an up-to-date evidence base to ensure that the Plan remains robust and effective in delivering sustainable development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate who has excellent communication and time management skills. You will have a good knowledge of current legislation and regulations relating to the preparation of plans and strategies and must have a post graduate qualification in planning. You may be starting out in a planning career and seeking to gain experience or may already have experience of working in planning policy. Previous experience of working in planning policy, and membership of the RTPI, will be reflected in the position of appointment.
