Contract Type: Permanent. Starting 1 September 2021.
Teacher of Design and Technology

Located at the heart of Weardale, an area of outstanding natural beauty, Wolsingham School is just a short drive west of Durham. Based on our four pillars of academic excellence, a rich extracurricular life, character and citizenship, and exceptional pastoral care, we are committed to helping every child fulfil their true potential.

We are seeking a Teacher of Design and Technology who is passionate about their subject, is an excellent practitioner and is committed to bringing out the best in our students. Our DT curriculum currently includes elements of graphics, textiles, design, engineering, electronics and food. Candidates from the full range of specialisms are welcome to apply.

Our school is a great place to teach. Students are well-behaved and their relationships with staff are excellent. We run 10-15 extracurricular clubs each term and a huge range of educational visits and activities throughout the year. For our DT students, this includes the ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers Robotics Challenge’ and the cross-curricular ‘Shell “Bright Ideas” Challenge’. In 2018, Ofsted warmly confirmed our ‘Good’ rating saying, “Pupils are very happy at school and wear their uniform with pride.” Our staff and Leadership Team are also extremely supportive and we provide excellent professional development opportunities.

We are a member of the Advance Learning Partnership, an Equal Opportunities Employer, and we welcome applications regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity or religion. Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if the essential job criteria are met. Our school is also committed to the protection and safety of its students; any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and appropriate references.

The Head Teacher, Mr Jonathan Ferstenberg, would be very happy to answer any questions you have or to meet with you. To arrange this or to ask any other questions, please contact Miss Laura Percival, our Academic Logistics Officer, on 01388 527302 or email info@wolsinghamschool.net. Applications may be downloaded from our website, which includes a video and virtual tour of our school as well as other helpful information.

We look forward to hearing from you.
