Post: SEND and Inclusion Specialist Support Worker
Grade: Grade 6, £21,748 - £24,491 pro rata per annum

We are looking to recruit a Specialist Support Worker with experience of working with children and young people with a vision impairment to join our team. The role will be to facilitate access to the curriculum and whole school environment across primary and secondary mainstream settings, ensuring safety and inclusion as well as promoting positive social skills and independence.

You need to have excellent IT skills and be able to use mainstream and specialist equipment to develop pupil’s competence and independence in their use of ICT and specialist technology in learning activities.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to modify materials to meet individual needs and work in co-operation with the subject and specialist teachers of the visually impaired.

We are seeking someone who has good braille skills or is willing to train to Grade 2 in the first year of appointment and to further develop subject specific braille as part of their development. Specialist Support Workers will be given the opportunity to develop specific skills, increasing personal knowledge and professional development in this varied specialist role.
