We are seeking to appoint a School Counsellor & Mental Health Lead to join our Pastoral Team. The post holder will provide a confidential, high quality, ethical and professional counselling service for young people aged 13 – 18, responding to their personal, social, emotional or educational concerns. This includes carrying out clinical and risk assessments, and establishing appropriate referral pathways to other services.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, the post holder will promote a caring and supportive environment to create a positive culture regarding mental health issues, keeping up to date with new guidelines, raising awareness amongst key groups and offering training opportunities to staff. The successful candidate will hold a Diploma or equivalent recognised qualification in Counselling, be a member of a professional body e.g. BACP/UKCP as a registered practitioner and have a sound understanding of Child Protection Safeguarding issues, policies and procedures. Experience of individual counselling and building positive relationships with young people is essential.

This post is permanent, 37 hours per week, term time only over 195 days.
