An opportunity exists for a temporary transport technician working within the Policy, Climate Change and Strategic Transport service until March 2022.

You will be part of a small team responsible for collecting and collating information relating to traffic flows and accidents across Tyne and Wear. It will also involve the processing and checking of road accident data and other similar data. This includes the installation and maintenance of traffic counters and the processing of the data.

You should have at least 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 or grade C or above, or equivalent and have good organisational, communication, numeracy and IT skills. A qualification in a civil engineering or transport discipline would be an advantage, as would an ability to drive. Experience of appropriate IT software and transport monitoring would also be advantageous.
