Our Children and Families Service in South Tyneside are entering an exciting period in the development of the service we offer our most vulnerable families. Having been graded as Good by Ofsted we are determined to push the service to the next level and improve things further to ensure we achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
As a family worker you will provide direct support and interventions to children / young people and families under direction and support of the team manager and will be responsible for providing written reports on the work that was undertaken to reviews and Court. You will have access to practice guidance and support from social workers, senior social workers and practice managers. Family workers will be an integral member of the Team around the Child/Family and will work alongside other professionals to contribute to whole family assessments and will be required to deliver planned interventions to parents and carers, utilising a range of evidence based early intervention methods and approaches within a multi-agency context.
The role will support the service achieve its goals of providing early support to children and families and ensuring, where possible, that children can safely remain within their own families and communities.
The role will require a flexible approach to providing support to children and families outside office hours.
