We are seeking talented, dynamic, and inspirational professionals who will play a key role in the delivery of better regulatory services, and to help achieve these goals for County Durham.

These positions are based within Durham County Council’s Housing Action Team or Nuisance Action Team.

These teams are part of the Community Protection Service of the Neighbourhoods and Climate Change Directorate.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Community Protection Service, in one of the largest unitary councils in the country and contribute to the transformation and improvement of local regulatory services.

The career graded roles range from Public Protection Officer to Senior Environmental Health Officer.

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate that they possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to be able to undertake investigations, interventions, and enforcement of legislation. In addition, they must have:

• Recent operational experience in the enforcement of housing conditions in the privately rented sector and various public health related duties and / or
• Experience of Investigating and enforcing statutory nuisance complaints

Appointment within the above career grade being dependent upon qualifications and prior experience within an enforcement role.
