Further Information
North Tyneside is a great place to live, work and visit. With a broad range of housing, great schools, strong transport links and a fabulous environment that connects country, river and award-winning coast.

With an Elected Mayor and Cabinet with clear ambitions for the Borough and a long term vision to recover and grow from the Covid-19 pandemic, we have worked together to deliver a range of high performing local services and in a range of partnerships to make a success of our communities and economy.

But there is much still to do. With an agreed Local Plan there is a fifteen year vision for how the Borough might look; that needs to be brought to life. Our vision is for a borough that is thriving with greater jobs and skills opportunities for everyone. With outstanding children’s services and high-quality education North Tyneside is family friendly and focussed on making sure that our kids get the very best start in life. And, like every other local authority we need to balance the books.

The Elected Mayor and Cabinet have committed to making sure we are a council that listens to and works better for our residents, that we care for the most vulnerable and that we tackle health and socio-economic inequalities. A key part of our vision is to create a more sustainable green North Tyneside.

We have fantastic people delivering great services but we want to make it clear that we listen and we care. Part of that is making sure that we continue to bring our vision to life for people, reaching all parts of the communities we serve. We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Manager to lead this.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced communications professional to lead the delivery of an effective communications and marketing strategy and service. The successful candidate will work closely with the Elected Mayor, Cabinet, Elected Members and the Senior Leadership Team, and lead the corporate Communications and Marketing Team. We are looking for someone who is a trained communications professional with news journalism expertise and senior experience in a fast-moving, sensitive and multi-channel news environment. Someone with extensive experience in developing a narrative from complex and sensitive activity. Someone who is able to deliver professional communications and marketing advice to support the development and delivery of policy and change, while promoting equality and inclusion.

The right person is likely to be looking for their next opportunity, for a chance to prove themselves and a chance to develop in a positive and challenging environment.

For further information about this post please contact Jacqueline Laughton on 0191 643 5724.

This post is politically restricted within the terms of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

North Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In addition, staff and volunteers are expected to familiarise themselves with all relevant policies, procedures and guidance in relation to safeguarding children and safe practice with vulnerable adults. Within North Tyneside, safeguarding is everybody’s business.
