Together for Children we are looking recruit to our Signs of Safety Development Team to continue with our five-year implementation plan across the whole organisation. This exciting opportunity will involve you being responsible for supporting the Signs of Safety Team Manger in the successful implementation of the Signs of Safety approach across all areas of Children’s Social Care in Together for Children on a permanent basis.
Together for Children are committed to the continuing implementation of Signs of Safety and the focus of this role will be to work with colleagues across the company to build on, support and strengthen good practice.
As a Signs of Safety Practice Development Worker, you will have knowledge in using the Signs of Safety framework and have experience in working with children, young people and families and carers.
You will provide professional consultation, creating and delivery of workshops, training groups, along with providing coaching and mentoring on either group or individual basis when leading and embedding of Signs of Safety.

We are looking for someone who has the expertise, confidence and skill to:
• Support Children’s Social Care staff with the embedding of Signs of Safety practice across Together for Children to ensure it is reflected within practice, children and young people’s records and plans.
• Influence positively on practice and increase skills, confidence and knowledge for all professionals to improve delivery for children and families which demonstrates positive outcomes and their voice.
• Strengthen, lead, plan and develop service wide knowledge in the use of Signs of Safety as our practice model by role modelling good practice and work with families to focus on improving the outcomes for children and young people.
• Lead on the development and delivery of training sessions, workshops, facilitation of group supervision and be hands on in providing one to one support to staff with visits, case mapping, facilitating family network meetings and provide coaching, mentoring and opportunities for reflective discussion.
• Support in facilitating bespoke learning events and provide presentations to wider audiences when required across all service areas.
• Analyse the strengths of practice, identify, and consider areas that require further development and training across social care and support the plans to achieve this.
• Share and cascade current Signs of Safety information and research that supports assessment, intervention and review processes. This includes promoting the use of tools and frameworks that support and are inclusive of direct work with children and families. Contribute to the training strategy and policy development in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
• Promote communication and share learning opportunities by liaising with other key partners and providing opportunities of shared learning or workshops. Embed and strengthen effective and collaborative working relationships across social care and partner agencies. This will also include development and shared learning with the Sunderland Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP).
A social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England is an essential requirement of the role.
This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure (DBS).
