In addition, Team Leaders will have line management responsibility for a team of Family Support Workers (FSWs) and will be required to guide and support them in their day-to-day interventions with families, alongside providing formal supervision. Integral to this aspect of their role, they will be directly responsible for drafting the interim and final assessment reports in respect of the families for whom their team of FSWs are keyworkers. This may require presentation of the final Assessment Report, on behalf of the responsible local authority, to the court which directed the assessment and subsequent referral.

The post also involves linking into local services as well as working alongside the referring local authority to ensure updates regarding families’ progress are provided on a regular basis.

Along with FSWs, Team Leaders will lead and partake in group work with the families in the Centre and work directly with other specialist services in the local community as appropriate and as part of a team around the family within 44 Westbourne Street.

Each family will have a bespoke Family Placement Plan which will guide the intervention from professionals in and around 44 Westbourne Street. The role of the Team Leader is to ensure intervention by Family Support Workers is informed by the plan and to support them to work as part of a team around the family in order to achieve specified outcomes.

The nature of the referrals into 44 Westbourne Street will include parents who have significant needs regarding substance misuse, mental health and who may be victims or perpetrators of domestic violence. Some parents may have specific learning needs. The staff team will be responsible for ensuring all families have the full suite of specialist services and support that is available in order to give them every opportunity to achieve a successful outcome at the end of the assessment.

The role involves shift work, full driving licence and an enhanced DBS is required.

The role is full-time, i.e., 40 hours per week and the postholder will be required to operate shift patterns, including early starts and evening work plus weekends and Bank Holidays.
