Further Information
This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.

We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children?

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

Our aspiration is to give the children and young people within Redcar & Cleveland the best possible start in life and although we are proud of our journey so far, we recognise there is always more to do.

We are seeking to recruit a social worker to help us to deliver the best possible services to our children and families. This pivotal role puts you at the heart of the continuous improvement journey for the safeguarding of children and young people.

Working as part of a wider team to improve safeguarding you will have opportunities to help shape the service to ensure children are protected; your role will provide professionals and concerned members of the public with advice and guidance that will be key to safeguarding; in line with policy, best practice, professional standards and legislation, therefore, ensuring children are always at the centre of our practices.

You will not hold cases or undertake visits and will be dedicated to providing advice and guidance at a professional level, liaising with partners and attending strategy meetings to assist in critical decision making.

You will be part of a diverse team that is based at Daisy Lane, Ormesby, which will provide the ‘front door’ services (which include safeguarding and early help) on behalf of Redcar & Cleveland. Professional partners who will be co-located will ensure that you have the relevant access to information to inform decision making.

As the successful candidate you will be an experienced and qualified Social Worker.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of Children’s Services, especially Safeguarding and Early Help 'front door', to help continue to develop an innovative service based on best practice.

The council is an accredited employer and holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
