Early Help – Youth Support Workers

This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.

We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

We are a caring and supportive team; loyal and tenacious, with integrity at the heart of everything we do.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children?

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

The Early Help Youth & Community Service in Redcar & Cleveland are looking for people like you to inspire, support and to make a positive impact to young people’s lives through the power of youth work. We are looking to recruit several youth support workers level 1 to level 3 depending on experience and sessions are 2.5 hours. Youth Group sessions are delivered term time only in locations across Redcar and Cleveland. More hours may be available during school holidays.

We are also looking to recruit a number of Children with Disabilities Youth Support Workers to lead and support in the delivery of play & activity based youth work sessions for children and young people with complex and non-complex additional needs in our Youth Group – delivered term time only evening a week for 2.5 hours a session in the Redcar area for children and young people with non-complex support needs. Experience of working and engaging with children and young people with disabilities in an informal setting is essential. More hours may be available during school holidays.

Do you think you have what it takes to engage and encourage teenagers to navigate through some of their worries, challenges, and pressures around issues such as drugs, anti-social behaviour and low self-esteem?

Have you had difficult experiences in your life but come out stronger with hope and inspiration that you can share with young people in similar situations?

If you feel you have the skills, confidence, patience and empathy to support young people from the quiet and vulnerable to the bold and argumentative, then this might be the role for you.

Start 2022 with a new challenge and jump on the rollercoaster of youth work where every day is different and a chance to help positively change a young person’s life.

For an informal discussion please contact Lee Waters 01642 455435 or Terry Colley 01642 513696
The council is an ambassador status for the Northeast Better Health at Work Award.

We offer extremely attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
