Further Information
Have you ever thought about becoming a Foster Carer
Things are changing in Middlesbrough, and we’re on a mission to show Middlesbrough Children Matter.
Middlesbrough Council has more and more children who need a foster family and we are urgently seeking foster carers. Our children and young people come from very different backgrounds and situations, and it is important that we recruit a diverse range of foster carers to meet their needs.
We are particularly looking to recruit carers for:
• Sibling groups of brothers and sisters of all ages
• School aged children including teenagers
• Children with Additional Needs and Disabilities
Our foster carers come from many different backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups. We work with carers who are: single, married and unmarried, in same sex relationships, retired, employed and unemployed, living in their own homes, bought or rented, families with and without their own children… and many more situations.
Fostering is one of the most rewarding things you can do to help children who are unable to live within their own families. Being a foster carer can completely transform a child’s life, giving them a safe and supportive family environment to help them flourish and overcome any challenges they face. Our carers all need to have one thing in common, the ability to listen and empathise, and provide a stable and loving home for the children they foster.
We know there will be so many people out there who have considered becoming a foster carer but might have wondered if it’s right for them or if they could afford to make the commitment. We understand that financially and practically, it’s a big decision to make. For that reason, we value the commitment and energy that fostering requires. It’s fantastic that we now have a generous and competitive package of support available that means people from all backgrounds can apply, and a team of dedicated experts that can help them through the application and training process.
