If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be the perfect candidate for the learning support assistant position at Gilbert Ward Academy.

Gilbert Ward Academy is a purpose-built academy that opened in September 2023, catering for children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) as their primary area of need. The academy will provide education to 80 pupils aged 11-16 working between lower key stage two and key stage four. Many of the pupils will have additional special educational needs, such as autistic spectrum condition (ASC) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

As a learning support assistant, you will work under the guidance of the class teacher and the Leadership Team to support the teaching and learning of our pupils. You will help them to overcome barriers to learning, develop their social and emotional skills, and achieve their full potential. You will also contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of all our pupils.

Thomas Bewick School joined the Trust in April 2019, Harry Watts Academy in September 2020 and Gilbert Ward Academy will open during the 2023/2024 academic year. We are striving to build further collaboration across the academies and grow as a multi-academy trust, whilst continuing to strengthen our relationships with schools outside the MAT for the benefit of our pupils.

The successful candidates will be deployed at Gilbert Ward Academy but will be expected to work at any Prosper Learning Trust site should the need arise
