We are seeking to appoint 2 Waste Transfer Station Plant Operatives to join our team.

One will be permanently based at Morrison Busty Depot and the other will be a floating Waste Transfer Station Plant Operative, covering absence in 4 Waste Transfer Stations throughout the County as holiday and sickness cover. The floating Operative will be required to undertake other general duties and will share loading when not covering holidays and sickness at a designated base site.  The floating Operative will cover at Thornley, Heighington, Annfield Plain and Stainton Grove Waste Transfer Stations but will based at the closest site to their home address when not required to cover any absence.

Both posts will be required to work weekends/bank holidays when requested by your line manager to meet Service need due to adverse weather, bank holiday catch up or other unforeseen circumstances.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
The role will involve operating heavy plant (Loading Shovel) to separate, segregate and sort in-bound material and loading waste types into various sized wagons ranging from Legras/ Artics to tipper wagons. This is a pressurised role where maintenance of service is paramount to ensure the councils collection/ bulking-up service is fully maintained. You will also operate mobile plant and machinery, mainly a wheeled loading shovel on a day-to-day basis to process and dispose of various waste types in accordance with the Environment Permit, Environmental Management system, Planning Permission and Council Procedures.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
Required qualifications:
Recognised plant /machinery qualifications e.g.,NPORS for a wheeled loading shovel.

Experience of working in a relevant operational related area e.g., waste, or environmental services and working with operating mobile plant machinery are essential.

If successful, you will be required to undertake and pass an in-house driving assessment as part of our pre-employment checks before any offer of appointment can be confirmed.

Travelling expenses: employees who are required to travel for work purposes may be reimbursed through the mileage and expenses procedure receiving allowance in accordance with the local collective agreement further information can be obtained through your manager.
