There is much to do, but the successful applicant will be fully supported by the Deputy Headteacher Quality of Education and Assistant Headteacher (AHT) Teaching and Learning.
Key aspects for the role in the first 12 months include:
  • Working with the AHT to develop quality first teaching of History across the curriculum area.
  • To support staff practice to develop more creative, engaging teaching.
  • To raise achievement and support the improvements in outcomes across the curriculum area.

The Curriculum Leader should be an exemplar of both leadership and teaching skills and lead the improvement of curriculum design and implementation across the department through effective support, monitoring and evaluation of colleagues.

The Curriculum Leader will work to develop both the strategic vision for History across the school alongside a clear plan on how this can be successfully implemented and monitored.

  • Able to model outstanding planning, assessment and teaching in order to support staff in the department to achieve high quality teaching over time.
