The Strategic Commissioning and Procurement team plays a key role across all Council functions. An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a Procurement Team Leader, and we invite applications from experienced and enthusiastic people to join our team.

This post will directly manage a team of Senior Procurement and Procurement Officers and you will support and mentor them to ensure they work compliantly and support with the mobilisation and transition to the new Procurement Act 2023 which currently has a go live date of 1st October 2024.  You role will be ensuring that the team and the Council are fully mobilised for the new process to be followed including the review of all documentation and systems we have in place.

As a people manager, you will have the drive and passion to encourage and inspire others. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Procurement is a high-profile area for the Council as it is seen as the key to driving value for money and ensuring compliance is at the heart of Council’s processes.  You will be a key part of the team supporting service areas to improve outcomes for residents of Middlesbrough, whilst also securing services which deliver best value for money.

You will have the skills to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders which could include providers, voluntary and community sector, Directors and other Local Authorities or Purchasing Organisations.
