To join us you will be a qualified social worker with experience in statutory social work in the following areas: child in need, child protection, and children in the care of the local authority. You will have experience of working in partnership – with children, their family and wider networks, and professional colleagues across education, health, police, and the voluntary sector.

Advanced Practitioners are in our Social Work Assessment Teams. Working closely with the Team Manager, each team has one Advanced Practitioner who;
  • Retains a limited caseload of complex cases (no more than 50%)
  • Offers increased supervision capacity within the team particularly for NQSWs and early career social workers
  • Links with Practice Development Team regarding learning and development
  • Deputises for the Team Manager
These are new roles within North Tyneside and come with a bespoke support and development package, overseen by the Principal Child and Family Social Worker.

The practice model used in North Tyneside is Signs of Safety, and you will be supported in developing and using this approach. We are committed to supporting our social workers at all levels, and you will receive regular high quality reflective supervision and management oversight of the important work that you do.

In North Tyneside you will have professional development opportunities through a range of learning including practice educator training and post qualifying awards. It is important that you have excellent written skills, and are proficient in using IT. We will provide you with devices and equipment that promotes flexibility in how you work, and training in LCS, our electronic child record system.
