An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Workforce Support Officer to join our Organisation and Workforce Development Team.
 
The postholder will support a range of OD initiatives and transformation projects that embed the Council priorities, aligned to the Corporate Plan and newly developed Corporate Workforce Development Strategy.
 
The postholder will need to show they are able to support in undertaking the key duties of the role, covering tasks such as: -
 
  • Lead on the development of workforce programmes and initiatives, ensuring full co-ordination, engagement, and participation of employees, so we can meet the needs of all our directorates.
  • Support the development, commissioning, planning and evaluation of the corporate workforce strategy, learning offers, annual training programme, mandatory and role specific training.
  • Develop and deliver training to a diverse range of staff and teams.
  • Ensure the ongoing development of the service through skills audits, training needs analysis, for internal teams as well as private, voluntary, and independent sector.
  • Conduct robust evaluation of all OD interventions to assess the impact of learning on the workforce and ensure return on investment.
  • Support our strategic and operational managers to meet planning, reporting, inspections, regulations, and legislative requirements by providing timely and accurate data, reports, and management information.
  • Contribute, research, produce content and present information at workforce events, staff or induction roadshows, development days and training sessions.
  • Collaborate with the wider HR service to develop and deliver workforce transformation plans, aligned to the Corporate Workforce Development Strategy.
  • Effectively commission and manage relationships and contracts with external partners and suppliers.
  • Lead and support the work of the Workforce Support Officer. 
 
It is essential that the successful candidate has OD experience and can demonstrate the skills and techniques required to provide a full workforce development service.
 
You will be working in a small team, so it is key that you have the ability to work independently but also as a strong and effective team member.  Good collaboration, effective communication, presentation, and strong organisational skills are an important part of the role and should be demonstrated by the successful candidate.
 
One of the key functions of the role will be to work with staff and training providers to deliver training packages. This requires a great deal of flexibility and an approachable, caring attitude to support learners with a range of abilities. The successful candidate should be self-motivated, focused to provide a high-level of customer service and experienced in supervising and motivating teams.
