ROLE OF THE JOB 

What the candidate will be doing on a day-to-day basis 

You will assist in performing internal audit reviews of the Council's systems and services.  This involves examining and analysing processes, records and data, and assessing and recording the results of this work.  In undertaking an audit, regular communication with staff in other service areas is required, for example to discuss findings and recommendations for improvement.  This is done verbally, via email and in formal reports. 

 

Background on department 

You will be part of the Internal Audit and Risk Management Service which operates very effectively and is valued throughout the Council, whilst aiming to continually improve.  The service provides Internal Audit, Risk Management and Corporate Fraud services to the Council and is part of the Transformation and Resources Directorate.  There are 18 team members across the whole service, including 9 in the Internal Audit Team.

We are searching for a confident and focused individual who will bring enthusiasm to the role. If you have an analytical mindare practical and solution focused, and are a good communicator then this role could be for you. 

 

Location 

We are based in County Hall in Morpeth. 


Salary 

Band 3,  £23,500-£23,983

 

Contract Type 

Fixed Term for duration of apprenticeship training, plus 6 months for End Point Assessment. 


REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB 

 

  • A level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent,and 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths  

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills - able to quickly and accurately analyse complex information and statistics (competent in using spreadsheet software, preferably Microsoft Excel). 

  • Good written and oral communication skills, good negotiation skills(Competent in using word processing software, preferably Microsoft Word). 

  • Ability to work methodically and systematically and good time management skills.
