The Regeneration and Economic Development Service is looking to recruit a Business Advisor who will have responsibility to provide intensive and tailored diagnostic support to employers with the purpose of increasing the number of opportunities that they provide for young people.

The post-holder will have specific responsibilities as follows:

•Provide a holistic approach to employee engagement, bringing together the support for employers and young people under the Councils’ broader remit to the local economy.
•Work with employment advisors and others responsible for employment support to vulnerable young people.
•Identify growth sectors and work with local employers to identify staffing needs and help fill vacancies from disadvantaged groups.
•Build the capacity of employers to engage with young people in a way that they understand and respond in a positive manner.
•Prove effective information, advice and guidance and aftercare service (alongside the employment advisors) to target clients on a 1:1 basis that provides the support needed to remove difficulties and barriers to sustained employment.
•Add value by developing networks with those involved in other client and employer engagement activities to support collaborative working and avoid duplication.

The funding for this post is initially until 30th September 2015 but may be extended subject to funding and performance.
