We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person to complement teachers’ delivery of the national curriculum. This will involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities when required and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupil’s achievement, progress and development. From September we will provide specific support for high achieving pupils with ASD.

Candidates should:
• Hold relevant qualifications at a level equivalent to at least NVQ Level 3 and preferably degree level. Ideally candidates will also hold the HLTA qualification.
• Have levels of numeracy & literacy equivalent to GCSE (A*- C) or NVQ Level 2
• Have had training in relevant learning strategies e.g. literacy or numeracy
• Relevant qualification in relation to ASD.
• Have experience of managing or working within a base designed to support children with a diagnosis of ASD.
• Have a minimum of two years’ experience of working with children with a diagnosis of ASD (either paid or unpaid capacity) preferably in an education setting.

Wellfield was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in March 2014.

The school is currently undergoing an £8.5million refurbishment as part of BSF which will be completed by the end of the summer term. It is situated only 8 miles to the east of Durham City and is well located for access to the A19 and A1(M). It is also within comfortable driving distance of affordable housing and areas of outstanding natural beauty. We also benefit from a Beacon Nursery in the village.
