Further Information
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Habilitation Officer to co-ordinate all aspects of the provision of habilitation training for children and young people who are blind or partially sighted.

You will develop individually tailored mobility and independence packages and training on the basis of identified needs for the 0-19 age group. You will ensure positive transitions for students throughout their time with the Service and into Adult Services as appropriate.

You will be working in school, home and community environments with children and their families as well as with a range of education, health and social care professionals.

You will take an active part in the planning and delivery of short breaks for families who have children with sensory impairments especially during school holidays.

The post is currently based at Belmont C of E Primary School in Durham and involves extensive travel to schools, families and education settings across the County.

You will have one of the following qualifications:
* Nationally recognised qualification in Habilitation Training for children and
young people with visual impairment
* Trainee undertaking year 2 of Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight Graduate
Diploma - IOE
* Rehabilitation Officer Diploma / Certificate with relevant C&YP experience
* Both Mobility Officer and Technical Officer certificates with relevant C&YP
experience
*Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired with recognised mobility qualification

The post is open for Job Share and we would also welcome applications from those who would like to work on a part-time basis.
