Further Information
Howden-le-Wear Primary School is a popular village school located in rural County Durham. We are a smaller than average sized primary school which is popular within the local community. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in January 2015 identified us as ‘Outstanding’.
One of the main strengths of the school is its team of talented, enthusiastic staff. Due to a continued growth in pupil numbers in school, the Governors are seeking to appoint a highly effective and reflective classroom practitioner. Candidates should be highly motivated with a desire to continually develop their own classroom practice to ensure that all pupils succeed in a caring, nurturing environment. They should be forward thinking and committed to high quality curriculum provision for all pupils.
The successful candidate will not only benefit from the support of a committed teaching and support staff, but also be part of a team which is enthusiastically driving the school forward and building upon its achievements.
The post is suitable for newly qualified or experienced teachers and will run for one academic year.
Application forms and detailed information regarding person specification and job description are available from the school or alternatively please visit our website at
www.howden-le-wear.durham.sch.uk for all the information and downloads. Applications should be returned to the school for the attention of the Headteacher.

Applicants are requested to submit a personal statement and evidence of any relevant professional development undertaken in the last two years with the application form.

Visits to school are strongly encouraged and very welcome at 4pm on Thursday 25 June, Monday 29 June and Wednesday 1 July. If you are unable to attend at these times but wish to visit, please contact the school office to arrange an alternative appointment.

The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Disclosures and Barring Service check.

Durham County Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer. We want to develop a more diverse workforce and we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community.
