The role of the Caseworker (Preparing for Adulthood) for SEND is:

To contribute to the statutory duty of the local authority to ensure that children and young people with special educational needs are identified at the earliest opportunity and receive appropriate support to meet their needs

To undertake casework responsibility for a number of children and young people aged 0-25 years referred to the local authority for statutory assessment of special educational needs. This includes the conversion of statements of SEN and LDAs into EHC Plans as appropriate.

To undertake specialist transition planning and progression support for a cohort of students with special educational needs. Inform and support the local authority’s responsibilities as commissioners of provision for Post-16 High Needs.

Required qualifications: A professional qualification in Advice and Guidance at Level 6 or above (e.g. Postgraduate Diploma in Careers and Guidance; Qualification in Careers Guidance; full Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development).

The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for a Disclosure & Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.
