The North East Partnership SCITT is a specialist physical education initial teacher training provider offering both secondary and primary postgraduate training places. We are the largest physical education provider in the north east of England and one of the largest in the country. Our last three Ofsted judgements have been outstanding and in 2013 we were graded outstanding in every category. We are consistently ranked in the top ten in the Good Teacher Training Guide and in 2013 were identified as the top secondary SCITT in the country and in 2015 as the best provider in the country.

In September 2016 we introduced an innovative new primary course, training primary teachers with a physical education specialism. Trainees are trained to teach physical education alongside the core subjects of mathematics, English and science across key stages one and two. In addition, they gain experience of teaching ICT and computer coding and offer support in the foundation subjects. The successful expansion of this course and guaranteed funding from the DfE for at least the next three years has led to the need to build capacity in the staff team.

From September 2018 we are seeking to appoint a Primary Placement Lead to oversee the day to day running and development of the primary placement module. The successful candidate will be a highly successful primary school teacher with knowledge of initial teacher training and the ability to build strong relationships with school staff and trainee teachers. This is a part-time (0.4) three year fixed contract in the first instance. Working hours are flexible and there is the opportunity to work from home. A secondment from a local primary school would be considered.

Further details about the post can be obtained by contacting the SCITT Programme Leader on helen.ostell@ntlp.org.uk

Application packs can be obtained by contacting the SCITT Business Manager on sarah.beall@ntlp.org.uk. Closing date for applications is 9am on Thursday 28th June. Interviews will be help on Wednesday 4th July.
