North Tyneside Council is offering young people of the borough a unique apprenticeship opportunity. Our Indoor Sport and Leisure service is looking for up to 4 enthusiastic individuals who would like to gain both experience and qualifications in the fitness industry to help enhance their future career prospects. Work venues could include The Parks Sports Centre, Hadrian Leisure Centre, The Lakeside Centre, Tynemouth Pool and Waves. Each venue has a variety of facilities including swimming pools, gymnasiums, studios, outdoor pitches and sports halls.

During your 18 month apprenticeship you will provide support across the full range of frontline leisure facility tasks and duties. These will include supporting Leisure Assistants with poolside supervision, working on reception, supporting the fitness staff whilst also learning a range of back office administration skills. You will also attend various training courses in order to obtain recognised qualifications.

Applicants must be enthusiastic who have a genuine interest in sports and physical exercise. You must be self motivated, approachable and have the highest regard for customer care. It is essential that you have a competent swimming ability and attend and complete the academic requirements of the apprenticeship.
