Post title: Advisory and Inclusion Teacher – full time – permanent x 2 posts

Salary: MPS £23,720 - £34,665 plus TLR2

Job Location: Your normal place of work will be Education Development Centre, Spennymoor. However; you may be required to work at any council workplace within County Durham.

This advert relates to key posts within the Educational Psychology Service, which is part of the SEND and Inclusion. The role of this team is to improve the wellbeing, achievement and inclusion of vulnerable young people; and to support schools to develop their capacity to effectively meet the needs of all their learners.

You will be joining a multi-disciplinary group of professionals and will support work across the team. The team includes Educational Psychologists, Counsellors, Specialist Inclusion Support Workers as well as other Specialist Advisory Teachers.

The team provides:

• Assessment, screening and consultation in relation to the SEND and Inclusion needs of children and young people within school contexts
• Advice and consultation on how SEND needs impact on learning and inclusion
• Intervention at individual, group and whole class levels; and school development support
• Training and network support for a range of evidence based programmes
• Research and development support aimed at developing evidence based practice

As part of the team there are considerable opportunities to develop your practice, and to become involved in a range of initiatives. The emphasis for these posts is in relation to the mental health and resilience aspects of work we undertake and difficulties associated with communication and interaction, including social communication. There will be a planned induction arrangement that can be tailored to your interests and needs within the context of the defined role.

Candidates must be qualified teachers. We will require you to demonstrate considerable relevant experience in identifying and meeting the needs of vulnerable children within school contexts; and in offering support and leading practice within a team environment. You should have an energy and enthusiasm for working across age phases and in relation to changing agendas and be capable of working flexibly within this context.

Required qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status and evidence of ongoing professional development
