Social Worker in the Fostering Service

Salary: £27,905 - £31,371 pre-progression / £32,878 - £36,876 post-progression

Job Location: An approved team location, however you may be required to work at any DCC council office.

An exciting opportunity has emerged to join Durham County Council’s Fostering Service. The Fostering Service is responsible for the recruitment, training and support of foster carers across the county, both mainstream foster carers and family and friends foster carers. The service has been through service wide restructure to maximise the quality of service to Children, Young People and their carers and ensure that good outcomes for children are at the centre of all of our practice.

There is a current vacancy for a Social Worker within the service. The purpose of the role is to complete high-quality assessments of family and friends foster carers, in line with the Fostering Service (England) Regulations 2011 as well as providing ongoing supervision and support to mainstream and family and friends foster carers. The role is a dynamic and developing one which also offers the opportunity to be involved in the recruitment and training of foster carers and there are opportunities for career development and progression within the service.

Please note you must have completed your ASYE year before your start date with us.

Required qualifications: Degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification, e.g. Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work (PDDipSW) Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), Certificate in Social Services (CSS) AND Current Social Work England registration.
