The Governors and Headteacher wish to appoint an experienced and highly motivated Head of Care to lead our residential unit.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leadership and management.

The Head of Care will be responsible for the leadership of the residential care team under the direction of the Head Teacher in support of children who attend the residential provision as an extended day or residential border at the school, providing a happy, homely and secure environment which extends their learning to provide a 24-hour curriculum.

The Head of Care will also ensure that all the school’s pupils experience the very highest standards of care by leading and managing all aspects of the school’s residential provision, considering the DfE National Minimum Standards for Residential special schools and current Social Care Common Inspection framework relating to residential special schools, legislation, national and local policy, research and best practice.
In addition, it will be an important part of the role to be able to provide leadership in the school as a member of the School Leadership Team and to take a leading role in awareness raising, thereby promoting the school’s success and improvement, ensuring high quality support to the care and education for all its learners and improved standards of achievement.

On call duties, on a rota basis with other senior leaders (Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher).

Sleep in duties as and when required to cover for staff absences or emergencies. (Sleep in Allowance paid when covered)

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
