A rare opportunity has arisen within the Durham County Council Sensory Support Team for a qualified Rehabilitation Worker to join a dynamic team of sensory professionals dedicated to improving services for people who have sight loss across County Durham.

The team consists of a Team manager, Assistant Team managers, rehabilitation workers, Rehabilitation Worker Dual Sensory Loss and qualified Social Workers for Hearing Impaired People.

We are looking for a dynamic and professional rehabilitation Worker to join our established team to undertake specialist assessments, provide person-centred rehabilitation programmes for both sight loss and dual sensory loss and to enable individual to live independently both in the home and the community.

You should have an experience of rehabilitation work, and be able to teach mobility and orientation, daily living skills and communication. Understanding the issues of this specialist area of work and have experience, and proven competency of working with people with sight loss.

The successful candidate will receive specialist supervision and training support and will work with other staff to carry out assessments and to develop, and deliver, quality services.
You will benefit from the support of a wide range of professionals and also have the opportunity for progression within the role.

You will be expected to follow a hybrid model of working whilst maintaining an office base within the Sensory Support Team.

Required qualifications: Applicants must hold the Diploma/Degree in Rehabilitation Studies with Visual Impairment or equivalent Rehabilitation Studies qualification.

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply.
