Are you ready to progress your Internal Audit career?

We are looking for a customer focused Senior Auditor to join our well-established Internal Audit team.

Our Internal Audit and Corporate Fraud service has responsibility for making a valuable contribution in providing assurance to one of the largest Council’s in the UK, alongside providing internal audit services to a range of external clients.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

You will be responsible for acting as the lead Auditor for assigned reviews as well as preparing and presenting audit reports to senior managers across a broad portfolio of internal and external clients. You will be working to timescales and so your ability to adapt and respond will be key.

You will build and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders across the council to enable the provision of our annual internal audit opinion on the overall adequacy and effectiveness of our governance, risk, and control framework.

You will convey sensitive information in a timely and professional manner and ensure information is provided in an informative and solution focused format.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

This role requires a methodical and organised professional. The specific skills and qualities we are looking for include:

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Excellent communication skills and a customer focused approach
• Self-starter with high levels of self-sufficiency
• Analytical with the ability to problem solve
• Engaging and collaborative with the ability to convey complex messages

Your experience should come with an AAT, or Certificate in Internal Auditing (or working towards one of these qualifications) or another relevant qualification/professional membership and 4 GCSEs graded A-C including English and Maths.

INTERVIEWS

It is anticipated that interviews are scheduled to be held week commencing 17 April 2023.

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
