Working as a Business Administration Apprentice, you will develop skills, knowledge and experience working as part of a Council wide business support service who provide a range of essential support services to teams across the Council.

The Business Services team offers the opportunity for successful applicants to join a team that supports continuous improvement and who strive toward excellence in delivering public services.

Our apprenticeships are a great way to improve your skills and knowledge, while also gaining recognised qualifications through ‘on the job training’.

We have business administration apprentice opportunities across County Durham, including:

• Adults & Health Services (Blue Badge team) – Spennymoor
• Adults & Health Services (Management Support) – Durham
• Children and Young Peoples Services (Early Help and Family First) – Ferryhill
• Corporate Property (Buildings and Facilities) – Meadowfield Depot
• Community Protection – Annand House, Meadowfield
• Culture and Sport – Durham
• Neighbourhoods Highways – Meadowfield Depot
• Occupational Health – Annand House, Meadowfield
• Planning Development, Spennymoor (1 post) & Durham (1 post)
• Refuse and Recycling – Peterlee Depot
• Transport (Parking Services) – Durham
• Transport (Traffic Assets) - Durham

Candidates should ideally state if they have a preference over team or location on their application form.

What we expect from you is a commitment to learn and develop, to work effectively and to respect your colleagues, to positively represent the Council, to complete your training course, and to put forward ideas and suggestions to help make improvements.
Successful candidates will have a desire to learn to gain knowledge from those around them, and to assist their colleagues in providing an effective and efficient administration support service. ICT and good communication skills are essential.

You will be study during the apprenticeship for a duel award, the L3 Apprenticeship and L3 Diploma, delivered to you onsite by one of our local training providers, with 1-1 support from a Mentor within your own team.

You should have or expect to achieve 4 GCSE’s or an equivalent qualification.
