Polam Hall School is a 4-19 co-educational day and boarding academy. We joined Woodard Academies Trust in 2017 and form part of the Trust's Northern Hub. This is a very exciting time at Polam Hall: the school has grown to its current 740 pupils over the last three years and will continue to expand until it reaches a roll of around 880.

At Polam Hall we aim to build creativity, confidence and curiosity in our young people. We are a true community of staff, pupils and parents. Our vision is to ensure academic excellence while retaining a focus on the individual, providing opportunities for the holistic development of each child.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our committed and dedicated team on a fixed term contract (18 months duration) as an Apprentice Teaching Assistant (Art and Food Technology). There may be the opportunity for a future role on successful completion of the apprenticeship. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed apprentice who has a keen interest in Art and Food Technology, to provide efficient support to teachers whilst motivating students to engage with their learning. Alongside the classroom role, 20% of the contracted working hours i.e. 6 hours a week will be allocated to training for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Training will be mainly through workplace assessment.

During the Apprenticeship you will be assigned a Trainer Assessor from Academies Enterprise Trust to work with you on the Apprenticeship programme. You may also be required to complete English/Maths Functional Skills (this will be determined by existing qualifications).

This is an important role working closely with young people and a fantastic opportunity for someone with the right skills and qualities to make a real difference to the life experiences and achievements of our students, whilst gaining a valuable qualification at the same time.

To be suitable for this role you will need to have GCSE Maths and English Grade A-C or equivalent or a willingness to work towards literacy and numeracy functional skills qualifications. You must be resident in England and have the right to work in the UK, be aged over 16 and not in full time education or hold a University degree in a related area.

Please note you should use the supporting statement section of the application form to clearly evidence your ability to meet the requirements outlined in the person specification. The information in this section will be used to shortlist applicants for the role and therefore it is important that you provide enough detail to give a full picture of your skills, any experience and why you are interested in the role. All applications should be made on the online application form which is available on the Polam Hall website www.phs.woodard.co.uk under the Work for Us tab

Interview Date: Week commencing 21 January 2019 onwards
