Further Information
Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums are advertising a vacancy for a permanent, part time Assistant Archives Officer (Digital).

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Tyne and Wear Archives. The Archives team is part of Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM), a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service. It manages nine sites in the North East of England including 4 museums, 3 art galleries and 2 Roman forts. Tyne and Wear Archives is an accredited joint service for the five Tyne and Wear districts and is based in Discovery Museum, Newcastle, one of the largest free museums in the north of England. Our collections are a typical mix of public authority and private material, but with particular strength in industrial heritage. Our shipbuilding collections are designated as of national and international significance and were also added to UNESCO’s Memory of the World register in 2013.

We are looking to appoint a specialist in digital preservation to work on the Service’s increasing volume of born-digital records. Ideally with experience of working in an archive environment and on digital engagement projects, the successful candidate will have a demonstrable knowledge of digital records best practice and challenges.
