Together for Children works on behalf of Sunderland City Council to deliver children’s services in the city including social care, early help and education. We work with unborn babies and children/young people until they are 18 years old.

Together For Children have invested in the Signs of Safety (SofS) model of Practice and are committed to fully embedding this in every aspect of our practice. We have trained social workers in the Safe and Together model to support our interventions with families experiencing domestic abuse. We are seeking an Assistant Team Manager with extensive Signs of Safety practice experience who has the skills and drive to support the development of social workers and practice within the service.

We are committed to the continued development of all staff and provide an excellent development and progression programme to social workers and managers alike. Throughout the circumstances relating to Covid 19, Together For children have continued to deliver services to families in Sunderland and both agile working and office based working is available to staff.

Our work consists of supporting children/young people and their families who are identified as Child in Need under s17 of the Children Act 1989 and Child Protection under s47 of the Children Act 1989 and Looked After Children under s20, s31, s38 Children Act 1989. Within each framework of intervention, we have clear procedures regarding visiting children and convening appropriate meetings. This includes completing assessments to enable child focused/SMART plans to be implemented, completing direct work with children/young people, completing reports for Child Protection Conferences/Reviews, Looked After Reviews and court directed assessments.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Assistant Team Manager who have the passion and drive to ensure that children and young people in Sunderland achieve the best outcomes and receive high quality services. The post primarily focus on developing practice and supporting team managers with the quality assurance and oversight of work within the service and provides an excellent opportunity to develop management skills and a focus on service development.

Please note all applicants must have successfully completed Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
