Further Information
Our transport network gets us to work, to school, to cities, countryside, and the seaside. For passengers and freight, Transport North East provides strategy, planning and delivery services on behalf of the North East Joint Transport Committee, representing the seven local authorities in our region.

We need a Business Support Assistant to help us reach our goals. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive administrative support service to the team.

You will ensure that business needs are prioritised and managed effectively, making sure we hit deadlines and meet objectives. You will be responsible for tasks including the maintenance and updating of records, monitoring timescales for contractual response deadlines and will play an important role in the organisation, management and administration of events and meetings including tracking actions.

Based at Gateshead Civic Centre and remote working, you will have excellent ICT skills and should be able to work flexibly, sometimes under pressure to meet tight deadlines. We’re looking for excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, using a range of media. Attention to detail is paramount in this role, and as we are a public sector organisation you will be politically sensitive.

Most importantly, you must play your part to help the team succeed so you will have a professional outlook, an approachable manner, be self-motivated, enthusiastic, willing to lend a hand and happy to get involved in new challenges. The vision statement for transport in the region is: “Moving to a green, healthy, dynamic and thriving North East”. Why not join us for the journey?

Transport North East is proud to work on behalf of the region’s Combined Authorities. The successful applicant will be employed by the North East Combined Authority (NECA).

This post is temporary for one year from start date of employment.
